Rose Care 101

Imagine a rose garden in full bloom from May through November… now learn how to make it your own!

Join us for a special Rose Workshop at Abernethy & Spencer on Sunday, April 19th at 4:30 PM in the Glassroom.

In this engaging, hands-on session, you’ll learn how to select and plant roses that thrive- whether you’re designing a large landscape or elevating a small garden space.

The workshop is led by Pam Powers of the Arlington Rose Foundation, bringing more than 35 years of gardening experience. Pam grows over 130 varieties of roses at her Fairfax home and is known for curating stunning rose gardens at private estates. An accredited American Rose Society Horticulture Judge, Master Rosarian, award-winning exhibitor, and National Photography Chair, Pam offers both expert insight and practical, easy-to-apply techniques. Her leadership has helped grow the Arlington Rose Foundation into a thriving, community-focused organization centered on hands-on learning.

Beginner Watercolor: Color Mixing & Botanical Observation

🌿 Join us on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 6:00 PM in the Glassroom for Beginner Watercolor Color Workshop with Amy Ramsey Walton, recently named Best Artist of Loudoun County.

This welcoming workshop is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to deepen their relationship with color.

You’ll learn essential watercolor techniques, including:
• Mixing and balancing color
• Creating soft, flowing washes
• Layering transparent pigments
• Controlling value and light

Inspired by plants and natural forms, we’ll practice close observation- noticing delicate nuances of hue, texture, and light in leaves and stems—building both painting skills and a more mindful way of seeing the natural world.
